Harlequin Haven Great Dane Rescue

Scotty

My owners purchased me for a bargain price and from the beginning they noticed I moved oddly. They contacted the breeder who denied knowing anything was wrong with me yet she recommended and gave them steroids to give to me. When they took me to the vet he did not know what was wrong and my owners could not afford to take me to a specialist. Finally they decided that it was best to give me up so I could get the medical care I needed.

The rescue met my owners at the vets office so they could immediately get me properly diagnosed and start the proper treatment. I got a whole bunch of x-rays and they were sent to the orthopedic surgeon. I am in excruciating pain and am running a high temperature.

I have been diagnosed with HOD and pneumonia. The pneumonia was probably caused from too many steroids and the lack of movement due to the HOD. Click here >> to see my x-rays!!

Update November 27: I am over my HOD and am NOW ready for adoption!!  I can't wait to find my forever home!!
Update April 22: I thought I was ready to find my forever home but the rescue has decided for the time being that I will not be available for adoption for a few more weeks. My hair was always thin but the older I got the worst it got so the rescue took me to the vet and so far I have been diagnosed with a food allergy and I may have more allergies so I have a doctors appointment with a dermatologist on May 10.
Update July 8:
Sorry I forgot to update my webpage I have been too busy playing!! I have been to the dermatologist and they said they thought that I had a skin infection so I have been on antibiotics and have been getting A LOT of bathes!! I have an appointment to go back on July 12 for a recheck. My hair is still very thin so guess it was more then just a skin infection but we will see what the dermatologist says. I promise to write again soon!!
Update July 15: Well so far no news. I no longer have any skin infection but so far the test results have not shown what is causing my hair loss. I am waiting on more test results.
Update July 19: The results are in! I am allergic to dust mites! Next Tuesday I will get my first allergy shot. The dermatologist said that the shots work for 80% of the dogs so I hope I am one of the 80%!!
Update July 25: Yesterday I went and received my first allergy shot. I will be given 2 shots a week for the next 5 weeks and then go back for a check up. If all is going well I will receive another vial of allergy medicine. The dermatologist said it will takes months to see any real difference. I sure hope it does not take too long!!

Update August 23: I went back today to see the Dermatologist and she was amazed at how well I am doing. She said we will soon know what my dosage should be and I am well on my way to recovery!

Please if you can spare a few dollars to help the Rescue to help me it would be greatly appreciated.  I have been a huge expense to the rescue and they have not given up on me yet! When I arrived at the rescue I had HOD now they are working with a dermatologist to help me with my allergies! I have a long road to recovery. Thanks, Scotty
