Harlequin Haven Great Dane Rescue
My mom dumped me at the Franklin County Animal Shelter when she decided she could not give me the love I deserved. Heck I just wish she had given me food and the medical care I needed, then the love would have been unspoken!! I have major hair loss due to the flea infestation that I was living with. Thankfully the shelter was kind enough to put flea medication on me so I would not be suffering from all those horrible biting fleas!! I also have heartworm and the rescue is going to treat me for them. I am emaciated weighing only 100 pounds but that will soon not be an issue, I am being fed 4 small meals a day. I feel like I died and went to heaven. At first I was scared but it only took a couple of minutes to realize I am now safe and going to receive the proper care!! I want to Thank the Franklin County Animal Shelter for caring enough to call HHGDR and of course for killing all those fleas for me!!!
Update February 24: I have began my heartworm treatment.
Grandma told me to be brave and I was!! She told me step by step what to
expect. First was the needle being inserted then the medicine being
injected and the worst now is how sick I feel. She gave me some medicine
to make me feel better and it now is beginning to work. She told me it
would be a few days before I start feeling better. Update September 21: I have been diagnosed with a Thyroid problem and will need to be on medication for the rest of my life. It is not real costly at this time a 500 day supply would cost under $80 to purchase on-line. Please if you can spare a few dollars to help the Rescue to help me it would be greatly appreciated. As you can see from the pictures of my emaciated body, granted not as bad as some but I also have to be treated for my heartworm which is very costly. I have a long road to recovery. Thanks, Perry
