Harlequin Haven Great Dane Rescue

Dillon
I have
been adopted!!
Please scroll down to see the before and after
pictures!
My owners dumped me at the
Franklin County Animal Shelter when they decided they no longer wanted
me. The previous owners dumped me on them when they were moving and no
longer wanted me! I had only been with this family for 6 weeks and it
was a horrible 6 weeks!!! I lived outside and was seldom fed! When I
arrived at the shelter I was scared and hungry. The shelter
immediately called HHGDR who set up a transport the same night. When I
arrived at the rescue I was weighed, I only weigh 107 pounds! I am a big
boned and very tall boy and the rescue feels I am at least 50 pounds
underweight. I am being fed every couple hours so that I do not get sick
or bloat. I know the amount of food I am being fed each time is very
small but it Grandma says as soon as I can tolerate more I will get
more!
Update
December 24: Today was a great
day!! Grandma gave me a bath, cleaned my ears and cut my nails!! I feel
like a new boy!! I was so filthy that Grandma teased me that I lost
another 10 pounds! I also got on the scale, I now weigh 110.8 pounds.
Funny what being fed will do for a boy!! The other dogs keep talking
about Santa Claus coming and bringing them gifts, Justice
and I told them to be thankful that they had food, shelter, soft beds
and love! We both agree Santa already came for us! Well my belly is
full, I am clean now and I am really sleepy I think I will take a nap!!
Update
December 25: I cannot thank
Santa and his Elves enough for all the wonderful presents I received
this morning! I really did not expect or need anything more then what
the rescue had already given me but I must say I felt like a Great Dane
again! I received a new big soft bed and a stocking of my very own
filled with treats and biscuits. I got toys, chews and bones! Everyone
was teasing me because after I played with my stuff they said I had a
bounce to my step. I guess I did I am so happy today! I feel so loved
something I do not remember feeling before. Just 3 days ago I was
starving and not wanting to go on NOW I am happy and loved. Thank you
Santa and all your elves for making my life extra special! I also want
to thank the Franklin County Animal Shelter for caring enough to call
HHGDR and a very special thank you to Charlie for picking me up and
bringing me to the rescue. Without all of you I would not have known the
real meaning of happiness and Christmas!
Update
December 30: Well Justice isn't the only one that gets to
brag today! I now weigh 114 pounds!! Not bad a pound a day!!
Update January 6: I
continue to gain weight at a good rate! I now weigh 125.0 pounds!!
Grandma is proud of me because I have no food aggression and am so
loveable! She promises to take new pictures of me soon so you can see
how much I have gained! I only need to gain another 35 pound or so and
then you won't see my ribs!!
Update January
15: I just love when I get to
get on the scale to show how much weight I have gained!! Today I
weighted 129.0 pounds!! Okay NOT a huge gain since last week but hey
that is 22 pounds since I arrived at the rescue 24 days ago!! Below are
some updated pictures so you can see my improvement!!
Update
January 22: I continue to gain, I now
weigh 133.8 pounds!!Update February 5: I now weigh 144 pounds and I feel better
every day! Unfortunately last time I posted an update I got dog biscuits
and drool on the keyboard so now I have sneak to use the computer.
Grandma was none to happy with me!!
Update March 5: Sorry I have not written recently but things
have been hectic at the rescue and I have been trying to help Grandma as
much as possible. I continue to gain weight and boy do I LOVE to eat!! I
now weigh 158 pounds!! I have gained 51 pounds since I have been here at
the rescue and Grandma says I still have more weight to gain!! I go this
coming Tuesday to be neutered. It will not be much longer till I am
ready for adoption!!
Update March 15: I had a
major set back today. I had not been feeling well for the last few days
so first the rescue had blood work ran but when that showed nothing it
was decided I would have x-rays. Today the x-rays
showed foreign
objects in my stomach so I was rushed into surgery and they removed 5 metal
disks. They measure 1.5 inches in diameter and are 16th of an inch
thick. Apparently I ate them many months ago and they laid in my stomach
not causing problems till I was neutered. they are assuming that when I
laid on my back during surgery that this got them moving around in my
stomach and making me ill.

Update March 27: Sorry I did not post
an update but I was sick for quite a bit after my surgery and I just
last week started feeling better. I am now back to gaining weight so I
can get ready for adoption. I lost quite a bit of weight when I got
sick, I weigh 141.6 pounds now. I will try to post weekly updates
again on my weight!
Update April 14:
Well I guess I sorta forgot to post my updates but I had to concentrate
on getting well and gaining my weight back!! I am NOW ready for
adoption!! BTW, I weigh 161.4 pounds!!!
Update April 20: Grandma
received a package in the mail and in it besides things the rescue can
turn into money she found a RagDog. The nice person made RagDog for a
needy Dane at the rescue well I may not be the most needy but when I saw
RagDog I decided it was mine to keep!! Scroll down to view the
pics of me with my new RagDog!
Please if you can spare a
few dollars to help the Rescue to help me it would be greatly
appreciated. As you can see from my emaciated
body, I have a long road to recovery and add on the surgery to remove
the metal disk and well I have cost the rescue thousands of dollars. Thanks, Dillon
