Harlequin Haven Great Dane Rescue
Annabelle
I was adopted from the
rescue in 2002, since then my owners moved to KY to a home with lots of
steps. I fell down the steps and my owners decided it was best to return
me to the rescue.
I will not be ready for
adoption for quite awhile my grandma at the rescue says I must lose at
least 40 pounds. Yes I am extremely obese which I guess explains why I
was having problems going up and down the steps. I weighed in at the
rescue at 151 pounds I should weigh about 110 pounds.
Update July 22: Well after weeks of dieting it is not going
well I have only lost 2 pounds!! This dieting stuff is for the birds!!!
Update
August 3: I wondered when I came
into the rescue why they had taken so much blood from me, heck I thought
they were crazy. But I finally got my results from the blood test the
rescue had ran. I have a Thyroid condition and have started Thyroid
medicine. Grandma says that is why I am so obese! Hopefully soon this
weight will come off and I will be able to eat a normal amount of
food!!! I will need to take medicine for the rest of my life. It is not
real costly at this time a 500 day supply would cost under $80 to
purchase on-line.
Update
August 26: Great News!! I now
weigh 138.4 pounds!! I still have a lot of weight to lose but at least I
am heading in the right direction! So far I have loss 12 pounds.
Update
October 18: I know I should have
written sooner but this weight losing stuff is hard!! I now weigh 125.8
so I am headed in the right direction!! I also am enjoying playing
with the other dogs!! I can run and jump right along with them now!!
Grandma says that by losing the weight slowly I am not getting flabby
because I am getting enough exercise!! I love it when the volunteers
come and tell me how great I am looking!! BTW, I have no problems going
up and down steps anymore!!
Update November 22: Well as with humans the first pounds
comes off easy but it gets tougher! I now weigh 121 pounds! Grandma says
that if my blood work comes back good that I can be available for
adoption!! It should be back next week!! Keep your fingers crossed for
me!! I will get Grandma to take new pictures of my slim and trim body!!
Update December 10: Okay it is confirmed I am now ready for
adoption!!
Update December 22: Finally I got some new pictures taken!!
Okay I know I still need to lose a few more pounds but HEY dieting is
not easy! I am now able to run, jump and play with the other dogs!
Hopefully soon someone will fall in love with me and I can have a happy
ending!!
Please can you spare a
few dollars to help the Rescue continue to help me and other Danes like
me it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Annabelle
