Ticks

To protect your dog from ticks and the diseases they may carry:

• Have your dog wear a collar containing amitraz.
• Mow your lawn often and clear leaves from your yard to reduce tick-friendly areas.
• Consider having your dog vaccinated against Lyme disease if you live in or around an area where Lyme disease is common.
• Check for ticks every day.

Most common areas to find ticks on dogs are around the ears. The ticks that can transmit Lyme disease are very, very small. If you spot one, remove it with tweezers. Grasp the tick close to the dogs skin...pull gentle and steadily.
